Support

The SDCTO is a community tourism organisation "by the members for the members". The support of our members in any matter that affects their products and services is of paramount importance to us.

We speak for our members as the collective voice of local organised tourism on all matters and in forums , to promote the interests of our Southern Berg tourism and hospitality product/owners where they may not be present; eg at District/Provincial Tourism Forums, DoT Route signage/Roads infrastructure meetings; tourism strategy/land matters workshops, EIA processes affecting tourism/hospitality, etc.

Setting up and operating a tourism/hospitality operation is subject to regulation under KZN Tourism legislation and many others. This obviously requires certain amounts of administrative permission/documentation to be obtained, completed and maintained. Too many people eagerly set-up an operation "quickly" only to become unnecessarily despondent when exposed to the "red tape".

The truth is, it is actually not that bad if one just first does one's homework properly. All of the more than 110 tourism/hospitality operations in our area have already been trough the same process, and one need not go through the same 'pains' but can draw upon the experiences of others that have gone before.

The SDCTO provides our members with access to all the collective know-how that they may need, derived from a vastly experienced membership, some that have been "hands-on" in the tourism/hospitality business for as long as the Sani Pass has been open to motorised vehicles.

Feel free to contact any of the serving SDCTO Management Committee members for assistance. Their contact details are available from the Tourism Information Office.
