HIMEVILLE MINI AIRSHOW
Over the years the Himeville Mini Airshow has grown in popularity with the people of KZN who enjoy this form of recreation/sport.
The 7th Model Airshow is being held on 21/22 April 2012, again at the Himeville Airfield, and again promises to be a bumper one. Our Southern Berg, already a popular tourist destination, needs no introduction to the areomodellers who enjoy a different venue and challenge to hone their skills.
Most participants who arrive require a few flights to adjust to our rarefied atmosphere. Himeville being located at about 1560m above mean sea-level (about 5100' AMSL in aviation talk), means their planes do not "feel" (manoeuvre) the same as they would closer to the coast.
The Saturday is fundamentally for the visiting aviators to acclimatise, or set-up. On Sunday, the plan is to have the Airshow, commencing at 10h00 through to 13h00. The public is welcome and catering will be available on both days.
The program will include many demonstrations, by several very competent pilots, of just how skilled an RC (radio control) pilot must be to ensure that he/she is in control of the aircraft at all times.
As with most model airshows of this nature, the focus will be on demonstrating the fun & enjoyment one derives from flying model aircraft. There are many facets to Aeromodeling and the organisers are doing their best to have all of them represented.
These include Sport Flying, Scale Models, Large Scale Aerobatics, Helicopters, Jets, Pattern Flying, and of course, the Funnies. Not going to elaborate; you simply have to be there to enjoy.
Bring yourself, your chairs and umbrella and "come fly with us" and enjoy.
